First initiated at Cartagena, The Wrinkles of the City is a way through the city with enormous and intense pictures, changing thus the urban landscape. JR gives us a ride to discover the dark side of China. He is pasting up his portraits in poorest districts nestled in the heart of the city - forbidden places – just a few meters from the Bund, the historical street of Shangai visited by thousands of tourists.

The book helps us understanding the complexity of JR’s work with multiple shapes: from testimonies, portraits, posters, and collages to final shots. The quality of the pictures tells us about the scope of the project.
