Launched in 2010, G-tokyo is an innovative contemporary art fair featuring a select group of leading galleries from the contemporary art scene in Japan. Intensely focused on quality and experimental in nature, G-tokyo has garnered well-earned attention within Japan and abroad.
As the work presented by exhibiting artists has been created especially for inclusion in the fair and was selected as part of a curatorial effort by participating galleries, the G-tokyo may be enjoyed purely as an “exhibition,” a unique art fair experience quite distinct from conventional large-scale trade shows. G-tokyo is the only art fair in Japan, as well, where one may acquire work by a wide range of artists from the emerging to museum-level pieces by contemporary masters.
For the fourth staging of G-tokyo (2013), there has been a change of venue with the fair moving to Tokyo Midtown; the timing of the fair has also shifted from mid-winter to spring. The list of exhibiting galleries has grown for the first time since the fair’s inception with an additional six new participants joining in the presentation of engaging and collectible artwork.
