Alcaston Gallery is a contemporary Australian art gallery dedicated to the promotion of Indigenous art works by living artists through an extensive exhibition program and series of open education forums.
Director Beverly Knight is known for her extensive fieldwork, actively supporting the development and empowerment of artists, their careers, families and community based advocacy bodies.
Alcaston Gallery at 11 Brunswick Street has 6 exhibition spaces and artist's studio area. The exhibition spaces, with a room dedicated to works on paper and a permanent stock room ensures the continuation and development of our exciting exhibition schedule and provides the opportunity for ongoing support and financial independence for more than 200 artists.
Beverly Knight and her qualified curatorial staff are committed to exhibiting high quality and cutting edge contemporary art sourced from legitimate community based organisations and encouraging audiences to view Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art within the context of contemporary Australian Art and the global contemporary art market without compromising the complex cultural constraints often attached to exhibiting and documenting work by senior tribal elders.
Alcaston Gallery is committed to promoting fledgling artists both remotely and city domiciled.
Beverly and her staff's combined expertise and objective overview of the art movement, also provides a valuable resource for clients in sourcing works including older works when developing a collection of a community or artist.
Alcaston Gallery exhibits nationally, internationally and virtually.
