82 Republic was started in Hong Kong in October 2006 by Connoisseur Art Gallery – one of the biggest and most important art galleries in Hong Kong – and has been hailed as a trendsetter for injecting new blood and fresh art into the Hong Kong art scene.  Drawing from Connoisseur Art Gallery’s twenty years of experience in the art industry, 82 Republic represents a project to promote young talented artists born in the 1980s; providing them with a platform to showcase their works internationally and a channel to exchange ideas and dialogues with other artists of their generation across geographical boundaries. 

Most of the current 82 Republic artists are from China, and they represent the new generation of artists who have emerged from the Chinese contemporary art scene as today’s new art stars.

Barely two years old, 82 Republic has already been invited to participate in Art Singapore and Art Taipei in 2007 and ShContemporary and KIAF in 2008.  It continues to attract waves of media attention and receive enquiries for its art works from museums and private collectors from the region and around the world.
