Iberia Center for Contemporary Art, the first art center established in China by the International Art & Culture Foundation (IAC) of Spain, is an academic organization with multiple functions of exposition, research, education, publication and collection of the contemporary art. The Center participates in the production and construction of Chinese contemporary art; meanwhile, it is dedicated to promoting Chinese art and culture, as well as to introducing international artists and art projects. Especially, the Center values the independent films and videos, above all the documentary films, which is nowadays one of the most forceful and dynamic part of the contemporary art. Thus the Center establishes an archive of independent films and videos as a platform, in order to collect, project, exchange and research Chinese independent films and videos.
Located in the 798 Art Zone, Chaoyang District of Beijing, Iberia Center covers an area of more than 4000 square meters. It incorporates exposition area, film & video archive, médiathèque, visual studio, auditorium, library, Café and art store. Besides, around the area of 798 Art Zone there're also studios for Chinese or international artists, in order to facilitate their working projects in Beijing.
Iberia Center for Contemporary Art groups in its work team curators and critics of a young generation, who will express their understanding and knowledge of Chinese contemporary art with new intellectual structure and cultural ideal.
