The name for Gallery Mukyo ( in Japanese, meaning without borders ) was taken from the pen name used by Rosanjin during his last years when he worked as a painter and calligrapher. He derived his name from the Chinese proverb that said "A fine thing has no border. It is irrelevant who made it, when or where. A fine thing stands on its own."
Rosanjin very much appreciated this concept and incorporated it into his name.
The gallery's own philosophy is that through the careful harmonizing of the antique with the contemporary profound pleasure may be achieved. Thus they have chosen to call their gallery "Mukyo".
