Vision
Aspire to become a hub of arts and culture in the region.

Mission
Provide studio space for local artists and art groups;
Help promote arts and culture in the community; and
Nurture creative arts talents for Hong Kong.

Facilities
Making use of the decommissioned 9-storey Shek Kip Mei Factory Estate measuring about 110,000 ft2 (lettable area), the Centre will turn the building into both a home for artists and designers to pursue their creative work and an art and cultural hub for the community.

In addition to studio space for artists and art groups, the Centre will feature a black-box theatre, art galleries and communal studios/workshops, all of which are open for booking by resident artists and the community.

The central courtyard will be the venue for small scale arts and cultural activities. Pockets of exhibition/performing space scatter around the Centre, providing further venues for ad hoc activities.

The courtyard allows sunlight penetration while the roof-top will be landscaped into a garden with sculptures, providing further venue for site-specific activities.

Subject to sufficient demand and the availability of funds, communal workshops catering for glasswork, woodwork, and metalwork may be provided to support tenants' artistic endeavours.

Cafe, gallery shops and other retail outlets will be available to serve tenants as well as visitors.

The surroundings
To enhance public accessibility, adequate signage showing the pedestrian pathways from the nearby Shek Kip Mei MTR station to the Centre will be put up and the pathways beautified whenever possible. The football pitch nearby can also be, subject to arrangement with the relevant Government authority, booked for Centre activities.

Basic building services provision

Fuse spur unit for split-type air-conditioner
General/Essential lighting with twin 1,200 mm fluorescent tube

Mode of operation

The Centre will be operated on a self-financing basis. It will be open to the public and people from all walks of life can come to enjoy the art works and savour the cultural ambience. In the long run, the Centre will make its mark on the cultural map of Asia.
Besides pursuing their artistic endeavours, artists and art groups resident at the Centre are expected to cooperate and share their professional knowledge with one another. They can also make use of the space for art education and training, and other art-related business ventures.

Partnership with the community
The Centre plans to form strategic partnerships with schools in the promotion of creative and performing arts for school children.

The general public will be attracted to the Centre in meeting with the artists and enjoying their participation in art classes, workshops and seminars. Corporate and commercial sponsorships and donations will be raised to support Centre-run art and cultural activities for promoting interest in, and appreciation of, arts.

The Centre will also, through sponsorships, organise and host a series of artist-in-residence programmes to attract local and international renowned artists to it.

As a further support to the creative industry, the Centre will seek sponsorships in the provision of six-month or longer patronised workspace to selected local art programmes graduates.
