Hong Kong Science Park which is the venue for Ahn’s 14th solo exhibition is managed by Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTPC). HKSTPC, a statutory body set up by the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2001, provides innovative and technology driven infrastructure and support facilities which include market focused clustered laboratory services enabling Hong Kong industries and services to
be more competitive; it provides a full-service incubation programme for technology and design start-ups, and fosters partnerships and collaboration between industry and universities/applied research institutes through consulting, training and research programmes. HKSTPC offers advanced facilities andsupport services for high technology companies that include an IC Design Centre, an IC Development Support Centre, a Materials Analysis Laboratory, a Wireless Communications Test Laboratory, an Intellectual
Property Servicing Centre, a Solar Energy Technology Support Centre and a Biotech Centre.
The venue of the exhibition likewise carries the message that scientific and technological development must also play a role in bridging the gap between the disabled and non-disabled as well as between the low andhigh-income class. The method of practice is sustainable science. As such, large-scale ADAMAO has utilized discarded paper boxes as its construction materials.
In the 1998 Policy Address, the Chief Executive of Hong Kong announced the building of the new Hong Kong Science Park in Tai Po in order to enhance the technological infrastructure in Hong Kong. The Chief Executive further set out the policy on the initiatives to improve the environment and to gear up for the knowledge economy in his 2000 Policy Address. These policies set up the goals and become the targets in the building of the first Science Park in Hong Kong.
