Art fair for international art works

Originated from 2003, Art Shanghai was sponsored by Shanghai Oil Painting & Sculpture Institute and co-sponsored by Shanghai Spring Art Salon Co., Ltd. It is an annual art fair for international galleries to display and exchange of modern and contemporary art works.

With a team of many professional art talents, Shanghai Spring Art Salon Co., Ltd had created series of art events. From 2003, they had held successfully for 7 years of large-scale international art fair - Art Shanghai was guided by its academic principle.
With characteristic theme exhibition and high academic quality series exhibition, Art Shanghai displays and recommends art galleries and new art talents’ works. Having more than 10,000 square meters exhibition hall each year, there are more than 800 art galleries from home and abroad participate in Art Shanghai for total sever years, presenting painting, sculpture, photography, installation, video, multi-media, as well as performance art and etc. About 200,000 visitors attended the fair with the deals amount up to USD$30 billion. Art Shanghai had got good acclaims from all the circles of the society.

Led by academia, based in the art market, Art Shanghai is a all-round stage for direct communication of galleries, artists and art dealers, collectors, enterprises, it is a large-scale art event of art works exchanging.

For many years, Art Shanghai had paid a lot of attention to the exploration and deep cooperation with overseas market all along, providing an international platform of communication, displaying and exchanging for galleries from home and abroad, now it has become into a famous international culture brand in Shanghai. For these 7 years, it had established close cooperation relations with more than 20 art companies from France, Germany, USA, Japan, Korea, Italy, Latin America and etc. For the 1st Art Shanghai in 2003, Germany was its partner country. The German part displayed the art works of Kollwitz，Christo and etc. brought by museums, galleries and curators. In 2005, France was Art Shanghai’s Partner Country while from 2006, Japan Galleries had established its zone in Art Shanghai, displaying Japan contemporary art. Through this stage, collectors and audience here got familiar with famous Japan artists Kusama Yayoi, Takashi Murakami. In 2009, the Latin American Pavilion was first set up in Art Shanghai, attracting the attentions from the collectors and visitors here.

Shanghai, uprising in the east of China, the art market here is gradually becoming the 3rd art works dealing center in the world after New York and London, demonstrating its intermediate function of international art works exchanging stage. New records were created in the auction market from time to time, more and more overseas galleries and art dealers situated in Shanghai, collecting art works now was becoming a new trend of fashion life style. As such a stage, Art Shanghai is now attracting the attentions of more art dealers and art agency from overseas, they really hope to get in contact with art dealers and collectors here through a connecting bridge, being involved in art market here in Shanghai as early as possible.
